Surgery brings wide-eyed wonder
His whole life, 7-year-old Amit Thakker (name changed) had looked as if he was half asleep. In a condition called ‘drooping eye’, his right eyelid had always been half-closed.
Now, after a unique occuloplastic surgery rarely performed in India, Amit is looking clearly at the world for the first time, in wide-eyed wonder.
Amit, from Kandivli, was treated last year at Bhatia Hospital by a UK-based Indian occuloplastic surgeon, Dr Sabrina Shah. After a long wait, his eyes’ alignment has finally stabilised.
