Coolsculpting vs Liposuction?
Liposuction offers a more aggressive and complete surgical fat reduction, with better contouring and more immediate results. The disadvantages include possible surgical risks, the downtime with activity restriction for 3 to 6 weeks and the potential for surface irregularities.
Coolsculpting is a non-surgical procedure, with minimal down time, fewer risks (though not risk-free), affordable treatment (depending on the amount done) and a treatment option for those who can’t have or don’t want surgery. The disadvantages of coolsculpting include a less dramatic results compared with liposuction, surface irregularities, rare risks of pain or paradoxical increase in fat, treatable body part areas is limited by fit of application head and bulges must be pinchable to fit into cup.
Both procedures also have limits if the patient has loose skin, since a deflated bulge can end up sagging. The patient with loose belly skin is better treated with a tummy tuck. Neither procedure is a substitute for weight loss. Should a patient consume more calories than expended, the remaining fat cells will expand.
